TheMulti-Rater Personality Inventory TM (MRPI) Assessment is a behavioural measurement tool that is based on Dr. Eric Berne’s theory of transactional analysis: The analysis of an individual’s personality. Dr. Eric Berne (May 10, 1910 – July 15, 1970) was a Canadian-born psychiatrist best known as the author of Games People Play. He was interested in understanding: Who am I? Why do I behave this way? How did I develop these habits?
His extensive study revealed that each person’s personality could be divided into distinct sources of behaviour. These sources of behaviour contain feelings, experiences and instinctive and learned behaviour that directly relate to and influence a particular pattern of behaviour.
Witz Education has advanced the study of structural analysis by creating a measurement tool that measures tangible attributes concerning communication styles, leadership, effective management, stress responses, assertiveness, outward and inward expression and emotional reactions. Combined with a self-esteem audit, the MRPI Assessment provides a predictive index that favourably supports hiring decisions as well as leadership and management practices. It will reveal how an individual’s personality will dictate their communication style, management style and leadership style, as well as look at the root cause of particular patterns of behaviour.
The MRPI Assessment places high emphasis on identifying individual strengths as well as exposing potential limiting behavioural responses. It strongly reflects positive and negative values within each candidate and highlights an individual’s preferred communication style with others. Mathematical values measure an individual’s thinking, feeling and choice of action reflecting their responses to individuals, circumstances and environment.
The MRPI Assessment is designed in such a way as to make it extremely difficult to calculate false positive or false negative responses. It can be linked to an organization’s key performance indicators or core competencies, predicting coping mechanisms in a particular role. This facilitates a better understanding of each person on the team by being more perceptive to how their personality dictates their behaviour. It is able to recommend which areas need to be developed and how to modify behaviour to best support the particular circumstance. A comprehensive and relevant training program can then be customized.
The MRPI Assessment is designed to optimize behavioural and personal competencies in order to accelerate performance. It has been in use for more than 30 years and has been validated using results that represent multiple organizations residing in North America and elsewhere in the world.
The MRPI includes a 360 element of six personality/behavioural groups and can effectively be used to focus development, to measure improvements, and to support recruitment efforts. Recent research on the MRPI shows that its six personality styles have competitive power to predict the self-esteem of a large group of employees representing a wide range of industry sectors, culture, age, gender, job type and level.
